Dura Technology Sdn Bhd (DURA) and the National University of Civil Engineering Technology Development and Investment Joint Stock Company (NUCETECH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU signifies a collaboration between DURA and NUCETECH to apply UHPC material in the construction of trafficable bridges in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta and other cities.
The MoU was signed by DURA Executive Director, A/Prof. Ir. Dr. Voo Yen Lei and NUCETECH CEO, Nguyen Van Khanh, at the Cần Thơ University (CTU), which is the second most leading university in Vietnam. The MoU was signed in the presence of Cần Thơ University Rector, Ha Thanh Toan. NUCETECH was set up on May 17, 2010 and is home to a group of engineers from Vietnam’s National University of Civil Engineering in the field of building materials and building structures.
With this MoU, the two organisations will be working together in the direction of cooperation under two phases, namely the construction of a pilot ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) Bridge (Phase 1) and cooperation in the construction of an UHPC production factory (Phase 2). Thới Lai District of Cần Thơ City was identified as the location for the pilot project. The bridge will cross Ba Dam Canal and span 65.5m log and 4 m wide. It is a three span integral bridge comes with a single lane.
In phase 1, DURA TECHNOLOGY S/B will involve in the manufacturing of UHPC beams in the Malaysia Chemor plant, and the prestress precast beams are going to be transported to the Thới Lai District. This pilot UHPC composite bridge is expected to be constructed by the local contractor under the Vietnamese government funding.
