Singapore Seminar of Concrete For Sustainability, Productivity & Future

Singapore, March 30, 2017- The CEO of DURA Technology Sdn Bhd, Adj. A/Prof. Ir. Dr. Voo Yen Lei has been invited by the Singapore chapter of American Concrete Institute (ACI) and Building and Construction Authority (BCA) to shared his knowledge by delivered a thirty minutes lecture on Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC): Technology for Present and Future during the one day seminar.

The seminar that was held at Concorde Hotel aims to covers challenges on the production control, innovative ways to improve concrete construction productivity as well as green concrete for sustainable construction. Upon the discussion of the current practices of concrete construction, there were 11 distinguished guests from local and overseas speakers comprising industry experts, academics, and private practitioners that present papers of various topics in this field.  

The seminar topic cover the following topics:

 1.  Use of 100 % VSI Processed Manufactured Sand in Concrete (Mr. Akio Ikegami, General Manager (Technical), YTL Cement Marketing Singapore Pte Ltd)

During the talk, Dr Voo has demonstrated some of the successful stories on the application of UHPC bridges in Malaysia and he has also shown how UHPC technology can be used in other area such as poles/ tower, retaining wall structures, precast bathroom units (PBU), precast-prefinished volumetric construction (PPVC) and others.

Dr. Voo Yen Lei telah dijemput oleh American Concrete Institute (ACI) Singapore Chapter dan Pihak Berkuasa Pembangunan dan Pembinaan (BCA – Building & Construction Authority) untuk berkongsi ilmu pengetahuan dengan menyampaikan syarahan bertajuk “Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC): Teknologi untuk Sekarang dan Masa Hadapan” di dalam seminar.

Seminar yang diadakan di Concorde Hotel bertujuan untuk meliputi cabaran pada kawalan pengeluaran, cara-cara inovatif untuk meningkatkan produktiviti pembinaan konkrit serta “green concrete” bagi pembinaan yang mampan. Melalui perbincangan mengenai amalan semasa pembinaan konkrit tersebut terdapat 11 tetamu daripada orang tempatan dan luar negara yang terdiri daripada pakar-pakar industri, ahli akademik dan pengamal swasta yang juga menyampaikan pelbagai topik dalam bidang ini.

Topik-topik dalam seminar meliputi topik-topik berikut:

Semasa ceramah tersebut, Dr Voo telah menunjukkan serba sedikit tentang kejayaan beliau atas aplikasi jambatan UHPC di Malaysia dan beliau juga telah menunjukkan bagaimana teknologi UHPC boleh digunakan di aspek-aspek lain seperti tiang / menara, mengekalkan struktur dinding, unit mandi pratuang (PBU ), pembinaan isipadu  “precast-prefinished” (PPVC) dan lain-lain.
