Wilson Hall Using DURA® Concept
Wilson Hall, located in the factory compound is the 1st
portal frame building built by Dura Technology Sdn Bhd. Wilson Hall was designed
and built with the aim to study the potential use and feasibility of
DURA® members against the conventional steel members in portal frame
design. With the building consists of a total roof coverage area of 2,861 m2
(i.e. 30,800 ft2). Figure below shows the total transverse width and
longitudinal length of the roof which covers 67 m (i.e. 220 ft) and 42.7 m (i.e.
140 ft), respectively.Each portal frame is spaced 12.2 m c/c (i.e. 40 ft) and
the building consists of eight pieces of Dura® prestressed columns,
internal rafters, cantilever rafters and connectors. For this building the
reduction column is tremendous.

Here in Dura Techology Sdn Bhd, our goal is to introduce this advanced
engineered material, with greener effect to bring the engineering industry into
sustainable construction visionaries. The UHPC method was compared to
conventional steel design method. The comparison chart shown
below, indicate that the UHPC method has a preliminary cost saving of 20%
versus conventional steel design method with overall global warming potential
reduction of 10%.
