Jalan Tun Abdul Razak is one of the busiest streets in
The bridge on the road have been there for more than a decade now, however there is a spot on the road that have been a nuisance to motorist as the tar surface were being wear off quickly due to the poor bonding between the tar material over the steel plate. This wear-off spot creates a large indentation that results in hard bumping-over to the motorist. If the motorist is a regular commuter on the road, that spot will be particularly avoided. Though many repairs using the conventional tar had been done by the City Council (MBI) through the few years, it seems to be in vain as the indentation will appear in a very short time.
Through a C&S consultant in Ipoh, The City Council came across Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. on its Ultra High Performance ‘ductile’ Concrete (UHPdC) and its technology in durability and less usage of material without compromising on quality. In December 2009, a site casting of UHPdC by Dura Technology was being carried out to repair the road. Though it was raining the whole day, the casting was completed in less then 6 hours and the road was opened to public use again after 4 days from the repair compared to 1 week using the conventional method. For that reason, the heavy traffic of the road was not significantly disrupted. Many of the motorists are satisfied with the short timing on repair completion and there are no reported damage recurrences of the patch.
