Prototype Structural Testing Of Full Size Bridge Girder

For the first time, on 14th September, DTSB has engaged IKRAM QA Service S/B to certify a destructive load proof test of a full scale prestress bridge girder in flexure strength test. The beam weights up to 30 tonnes and has a total length of 29.5m. At the same time, DTSB has also invited various organisations to participate in the destructive test, which consists of 15 officers from JKR Perak, 50 undergraduate students from University Technology Petronas (UTP), approximately 20 post-graduate students from University Putra Malaysia (UPM), and 4 local consulting engineers.

University Technology Petronas (UTP) Visited DTSB

A group of 50 Undergraduate students of UTP with their lecturer, Prof. Ir Dr Muhd Fadhil Nuruddin came to Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. for a technical visit. The intention of this visit mostly stem from the interest of collaborating their research on rice-husk ash (MIRHA) to UHPdC.

Official Opening of Malaysia’s First & The World’s Longest UHPdC Motorway Bridge

21st May 2011 marks a historical day for Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. and Negeri Sembilan because it was the grand opening of the Kg. Linsum Motorway Bridge and the presentation of certificate by Malaysia Book of Record (MBOR) as a recognition that this is indeed Malaysia First Longest Ultra-High Performance ‘ductile’ Concrete. The guest of honor was the Menteri Besar of Neger Sembilan, YAB Datuk Seri Hj. Utama Mohamad Hj. Hassan. Also present, Datuk Ir. Dr. Roslan Md Taha, the director of Jabatan Kerja Raya Negeri Sembilan. There were around 500 guests that include the enthusiast and grateful villagers, JKR and state officers.

DURA UHPdC Introduced in Penang by Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd.

Once again, Dr. Voo Yen Lei was invited to conduct a presentation to the Jabatan Kerja Raya Penang. There were around 30 participants and most of them are engineers and senior officers. Penang is a state that really supports the idea of green and having a sustainable development. Therefore, Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. is being appreciated because of the greener building material and the reduction in immediate cost and carbon foot print. The JKR officials were impressed that such technology can be found in Malaysia and is wholly owned by Malaysians. The title of the presentation captures the interest of the officers in view of their state’s mission towards a Penang a green state.

East-Coast Expressway Team Visits Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd.

On 11th May 2011, another workshop was held in the in Dura Technology Sdn. Bhd. for the Jabatan Kerja Raya officers which are also a special team for the East-Coast Expressway Project Phase 2. Approximately 50 JKR officers from the state office attended this workshop. It was the first time Ultra-High Performance ‘ductile’ Concrete was introduced to most of the attendees, and even at the first introduction of this material and its properties, they were surprised how this material can perform over the conventional concrete and in fact can be as ductile as steel.
