51.5m, Longest in Rantau Launched, Negeri Sembilan
On 20th May, Rantau, Negeri Sembilan again to set a new record in housing the longest UHPdC composite bridge. Breaking its past record of 50m, now the 51.5m long bridge is almost ready to serve the public. The whole project that cost at RM6.5 million which includes the construction of the new four lane road, river protection and this concrete bridge.
There were only five numbers of DURA UBG1750 beams to be used for the four lane 51.5m bridge crossing across the river without any pillars in between. Being one of the busiest road that is the access among towns, it is not recommended that the road be closed to traffic, thus, on the launching day, no traffic was closed for a period longer than 15 minute. The 51.5m long beams were lifted by two-500tones mega crane by Asia Group in a single lifting and be place on the concrete abutment. The whole launching process only takes 5 hours to complete. There were no major disruptions to the heavy traffic and by 5pm every activity around it were resumed and launching is done.
