Seminar on Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) for Nuclear Installation
The seminar had few speakers for the day. After the opening speech by the adviser of the seminar, Adj. Prof. Dr. Ir. Voo started the seminar with his presentation on his experimental study on The Mechanical and Radiation Shield Properties of Steel Fiber Reinforced-Ultra High Performance Concrete (SFR_UHPC) Produced with Silica Sand and 'Amang'. Adj. Prof. Dr. Ir. Voo introduced 2 types of UHPC which is Normal Density Ultra High Performance Concrete (ND-UHPC) produced with silica sand and High Density Ultra High Performance Concrete (HD-UHPC) produced with 'Amang'. Then Prof. Dr. Azlan Adnan from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) continue on with his presentation on Seismic Hazard Assessment for Nuclear Power Plants in Malaysia. He is a Professor at the Structural and Material Department, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia for 17 years and presence as Research Head of Structural Earthquake Engineering Research in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He shared about Malaysia seismic hazard from his study as a safety precaution reference for the nuclear plant in near future. The seminar ended with a Q&A session from the floor which sees many enthusiastic participants getting to know more about the application of SFR-UHPC in the nuclear field and sharing opinions and views concerning this topic. It was indeed a fulfilling and interesting seminar which had benefited all who attend and it opens a new door for research and development on this topic.
