DURA® Fin is an extremely durable and attractive fin-like façade manufactured using ultra-high performance ductile concrete (UHPdC). The cross-section and length of the fin can be customized to suit clients' or architects' specification.  For interior application, DURA® Fin can serve as interior design feature which either painted or none-painted, whereas for exterior application, DURA® Fin can be used as slim façade feature that do not required painting work or coating which gives the natural fair-face concrete finish.

  • DURA® Fin generally consists of thin strip panel of 20~30 mm in thickness, and the length can range from 3 to 12 m without any intermediate joints.
  • The UHPdC used for the DURA® Fin has a cylinder compressive strength ranges between 100 to 120 MPa (equivalent to cube compressive strength of 110 to 130 MPa), and modulus of rupture over 15 MPa.
  • DURA® Fin eliminates completely the use of conventional steel reinforcing bars and stirrups. Instead, steel fibres are used and there are generally made from high carbon steel wires with tensile strength of 2300 MPa.
  • Special fixing detail is provided together with the DURA® Fin and it can be customized to suit the client's specification.

Advantages of DURA® Fin

  • DURA® Fin is highly durable and impermeable. It is therefore suitable for use in extremely aggressive environments such as marine environments.
  • DURA® Fin is easy to install. Simple conventional drilling technique together with semi-skill workers is adequate for installation work.
  • No scaffolding, props or formwork are required over the entire installation, thus reducing construction site activities, improving safety margins and eliminating in-situ casting work.
  • Ease of handling (due to light weight) and fast in construction.
  • DURA® Fin is many times lighter than conventional R.C. façade features.
  • DURA® Fin is guaranteed to be geometrically stable as they are steam-cured to minimized creep and long-term shrinkage.
  • DURA® Fin is aesthetically pleasing as its finish surface is smooth and consistent.
  • ultra-packed nature of the concrete matrix eliminates the need for painting or protective coating (thus leading to further long term savings in cost). Micro-organism such as mould and algae will also not grow easily on this surface.
