Technology is rapidly advancing and impacting many sectors, including the construction industry. A key innovation in this field is Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), also known as Ultra High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC). UHPC is a high-performance concrete with special materials that offer significant advantages over traditional concrete. It is more durable, speeds up construction, has a longer lifespan, is cost-effective, lightweight, eco-friendly, and requires minimal maintenance. These benefits make UHPC a future trend for sustainable infrastructure and global construction development.
The AP3I Association, a supply chain organization for the precast and prestressed concrete industry, promotes collaboration across the sector. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in education, the association organizes the Goes to Campus (SGtC) Seminar. This event introduces the AP3I Association and its members while highlighting advancements in precast and prestressed concrete.
In 2024, the AP3I Association, in collaboration with the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Indonesia and supported by DURA Technology Sdn Bhd Malaysia, hosted an International Seminar titled “Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC): A Game Changer for the Construction Industry for More Sustainable Infrastructures.”
Before the seminar sessions began, Ir. Abdul Muis, MT , Director General of Construction Development at the Ministry of Public Works of the Republic of Indonesia, delivered a keynote speech. He discussed the Ministry’s infrastructure development plans for 2025, focusing on food, water, and energy security. He highlighted the need for 961,496 tons of precast concrete in 2025 and emphasized the importance of governance, innovation, and collaboration to ensure a sustainable supply. He also stressed the role of technology in improving efficiency, durability, and sustainability by reducing carbon footprints and extending infrastructure lifespans.
The seminar aimed to educate academics and the public about the precast and prestressed concrete industry, particularly UHPC. UHPC has gained global recognition for its benefits in sustainable infrastructure development. The event served as a platform to promote UHPC to stakeholders, including government, private sectors, and universities, to accelerate its adoption in Indonesia and support national development.
The 2024 International Seminar was held in a hybrid format on November 20, 2024, at the Mochtar Riady Building, University of Indonesia. It provided an opportunity for students, lecturers, and industry professionals to share knowledge, experiences, and insights into innovative precast and prestressed concrete technologies.
