IPOH, 2nd September 2023: A total of 15 guest from Department of Rural Roads (DRR) of Thailand Government Agency & Siam Cement Group (Thailand) of Companies organized a technical visit at Dura Technology factory in Chemor, Perak. The presentation was given by Head of innovation (R&D) and Head Business Development About Ultra-High-Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC) to educate about UHFPRC and to create an understanding on its applications as to how it can be more sustainable compared to current technology and introduction of Dura company. The purpose of this visit was to provide a more in-depth knowledge in the science of concrete materials have led to the development of a new class of cementitious composites that called ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC). UHPC is being considered for use in a wide variety of highway infrastructure applications. The high compressive and tensile strengths allow for the alternative and new design and optimization of structural elements compare with the normal concrete. Before preceding the first site visit, the group having a meeting about introduction of the UHPFRC in Dura Company and have a tour in the factory to understand on its applications as to how it can be more sustainable compared to current technology. This hands-on experience can help guests gain a better understanding of the properties and strengths of our UHPFRC and its potential applications. By seeing the materials and manufacturing process firsthand, guests can better evaluate whether our UHPFRC is the right fit for their needs. Few tests (compression, flexural, chloride penetration etc.) were presented to the guest in our laboratory. After the meeting, the site visit begins with the completed projects at Kg. Paloh, Ipoh (55m Single Span) bridge show the lightness of the superstructure and the advantages of what high strength concrete can do. The site visit continues with SPE-Duke3 (60m & 70m Bridge) and Langat Bridge (105m Bridge) that located in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. The technological advancement inherent in UHPFRC both will afford direct solutions to today’s infrastructure challenges and will be integrated into the normal concretes of tomorrow.Throughout this, DURA promotes fundamental shifts in how the global production and supply network operates as “Malaysia as World Leader in Promotes Sustainable Bridge Technology” about the sustainability and environment friendly development using Ultra-High-Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC). The advantages of UHPFRC are high performance concrete, low carbon footprint, affordable and superior durability. UHPFRC are materials with a cement matrix, and a characteristic compressive strength between 150 MPa to 250 MPa. They contain steel fibres, to achieve ductile behaviour in tension and if possible, the minimized reinforcement usage. In the end of this visit, the team from Thailand, was impress and have interest in using Dura’s products in future that they believe Dura bring benefit to the government and the citizens of a country as Dura product is very environmental to the world.“We look forward to a productive and successful partnership with SCG, and we are confident that our combined efforts will help us achieve global technology innovation and to drive sustainable developmental growth.”
